Freeze when you finish your lines.

Gennie:
Line 1: (looks down diagonally to the side) why is he abusing his own daughter?
Line 2: (look up) She is his only child.
Line 3: I have to help her.

Gynn: (the stick and box)
Line 1: He knows too much about my debts and gambling den.
Line 2: he must die. (hits gennie. Gennie falls behind box; run back to gennie with bottle)
Line 3: (faces Grace) my daughter is better off dead too.

Fang Min:
Line 1: (stand up and look down) No! why is he abusing me?
Line 2: (Looking down, walking forward) I’m his only child!
Line 3: (Bends down) Doesn’t he have any feelings left for his family?

Yu Jun:
Line 1: (Sad. Don’t do big actions) Why is he making us suffer like this?
Line 2: (Sit down on the sofa) I regret marrying him.
Line 3: Why? Why did he change from before?

Ling Li: (hiding behind box)
Line 1: (Very sad; walk so that audience can see) He killed Nicholas!
Line 2: Police! Police!
Line 3: I’ve got to tell them everything!

Xiao Chou:
Line 1: (Rude gesture) What the hell!
Line 2: Who called the police?
Line 3: Now my gambling den is ruined! (kick the chair)

Angela:
Line 1: Oh no! What happened?
Line 2: I must not get involved in this.
Line 3: Quick! Before the police come!

Yu Xin:
Line 1: The police?
Line 2: Where’s the money? (pick up money)
Line 3: (Greedily) it’s mine.

Frame 2

Change in position :
L1, L3, L4 off. Gynn goes to centerstage (L2)
Gambling den > arrange tables. XC, YX, AC sit on chair.
Family house > YJ sit properly on sofa, FM go to coffee table do homework.
Warehouse > LL and GN gather around LL’s boxes.

Gynn:
Line 1: (Shocked face) How did this happen? (Walk towards the centre of the stage)
Line 2: I remember (pause) we were still a happy family a few weeks ago.
Line 3: It all started (slow) at that time… (look far out in the distance)

All lights on. Yuxin moves to centerstage.

Yu Xin:
Line 1: (Walk to Gynn) Hello brother! (tap on back)
(Gynn : Oh, long time no see Chu Beng!)
Line 2: Heyhey (whisper), I got a good deal for you! (Talk and walk)
Line 3: Come along to earn quick money! (Gynn tries to protest but Yuxin insists)
(Gynn : What’s that?)
Line 4 : You’ll see. (end at L4 section)

Xiao Chou and Angela start walking out of gambling den. Angela wait at the side.

Xiao Chou:
Line 1: (Walk around Gynn) Finally! Our next victim!
Line 2: All we have to do is to land him in our debt!
Line 3: Jessica will definitely be able to deceive him! (beckon to Jessica, point at Gynn)

Angela: (Walking to Gynn; bimbotic)
Line 1: Here comes another idiot… (look into mirror)
Line 2: Money just keeps rolling in sometimes. (giggle)
Line 3: All I have to do is just mmm…

Angela drags Gynn to den, Xiao Chou and Yuxin walk together.
All freeze and sit in gambling den.

Yu Jun: (Paranoid)
Line 1: Is that the door closing? (look to the back, look over at her shoulders)
Line 2: Again! Where is he going at such a late time?
Line 3: (Pause 3seconds. Look down) I shouldn’t be too paranoid…

Fang Min:
Line 1: (Scratches head) Oh! Where is daddy when I need him?
Line 2: I don’t know how to do this question!
Line 3: Perhaps Nicholas would know… (calls Nicolas)

Gennie’s phone rings. She holds it up. Lingli appears from behind.

Ling Li:
Line 1: Is that Nicholas’s phone ringing?
Line 2: Is that Grace calling? Her again!?
Line 3: What is their relationship? (bang box, stare at gennie with suspicious eyes)

Gennie:
Line 1: Oh it’s Grace!
Line 2: Sarah is being paranoid again. (glance at lingli)
Line 3: Even though I told her countless of times that there’s nothing between me and her!

Frame 0/3 - Dialogues

Make a lot of noise at the gambling den. Gynn keeps drinking beer.

Gambling den:
Yuxin: [Gynn stands up. Yuxin stands up too, push Gynn down gently] Don’t go!
Gynn: But it’s quite late…
Yuxin: Let’s have a few more rounds. (knock table)
Gynn: I don’t know… I might lose money…
Xiaochou: Don’t worry! I’ll lend you some! (Gynn hesistates)
Angela : Yes, stay awhile longer, I’ll go get some beer.
(Gynn stops hesitating and takes the money)

Everyone in gambling den continues playing. Just don’t stop.

At home:
Yu Jun: It’s late… I don’t even know where he is…[calls gynn]
Gynn: it’s my wife again…[slams phone]
Angela: [picks up and answer when gynn not looking] Hello?!
Yu Jun: [Hang up and stay silent, then fall to the ground crying.]
(Fangmin rushes over, looks at yujun)
Fang Min: Mum! What happened? (bend down to Yujun’s level)
Yu Jun: Do you know what your father has been doing? (stare at FM)
Fang Min: What’s wrong?
Yu Jun: He has been gambling and womanizing! (Stand up, wipe face)
Fang Min: What?! Nooooooo~!

Fangmin runs behind the sofa (out of the house) to look for Nicholas.
Yujun gradually continues sweeping the floor, sobbing in the meantime.

Scene 1

Outside the house :
Gennie: Didn’t grace say to meet her here? Where is she?
(Fangmin bangs into gennie, Gennie calms her down)
Ling Li: [stalking Nicholas] Where is he heading to? (keep trying to listen)
Gennie: What happened?
Fang Min: (in between sobs) It’s my father! He abused us, he gambled, and now he’s womanising!
Gennie: (disbelief, firm) What!? (pause) I must talk to your father!
Fang Min: No! he’s incorrigible! You should just go home…
Gennie: But…

Fangmin walks away (goes offstage). Gennie looks on.

Lingli: [When gennie turns around, LL came from her hiding place] What was that about?
Gennie: (surprised) Sarah? What re you doing here?
Lingli: Why was she crying? (concerned tone)
Gennie: She’s in trouble! I don’t know the detaisl but she told me her father has been …

Gambling den :
Xiao Chou : He gets drunk so easily. Take him home.
Gynn : I wanna play more…

Yuxin and Angela bring gynn back home.

At home :
Gynn: [drunk] I’m home~ (retardedly)
Yu Jun: (covers nose) You reek of alcohol! Where have you been?
Gynn: Stop your nagging… (walks away)
Yu Jun: [Angrily] I know what you have been doing! At that gambling den and with that slut! [point at angela]
Yuxin and Angela : We’ll leave first.
Gynn: Hey… (look at YX and AX, then turn back to YJ) Get lost! [Hit YJ]
{Yu jun falls unconscious}

Yuxin and angela go offstage.

Ling Li: What was that?
Gennie: I don’t know, but it’s coming from Grace’s house!

Lingli and Gennie both rush into Fangmin’s house.

Fang Min: [returned] Mom! (faces Gynn) What are you doing to her?! [ran towards the mother]
Gynn: She deserved it! And now you too!
Gennie: Stop! [Gynn hit gennie and gennie falls to the ground.]
(Lingli must be behind the boxes)

Scene 2

Gynn walks to centerstage.
Everyone else goes offstage.
Xiaochou and yuxin change to policemen.
L1, L2, L3 on.

Gynn: it’s not my fault…
Fang Min: Why did you kill him!? He was my only friend!
Gynn: Shut up! You don’t know anything! [push FM to the ground]
Fang Min: No! Go away!!! [Grab a broom and accidentally hit father at the back of his head]
Gynn: Ah! [Falls to the ground, dead]

Fang Min: (monologue) Oh no! What have I done? (drops the broom, walks away from G)
Yu Jun: What… Oh my god! [wakes up to find dead ppl]
Fang min: Mom! It was an accident! I swear! [ Cry, run towards YJ]
Yu Jun: No! it’s my fault! I should’ve protected you! And since it’s my fault, I shall turn myself in to the police. (look shocked, pause, then look determined)
Yuxin and Xiaochou : (appear) Police! Put your hands up in the air!
Fang min: No mom! (YJ walk away from L2)

Off L3.

Fang Min: (emotional) Why must this happen… now… I’m all alone…[sinks to the floor]
